Gaki Dem

Gaki Dem is a Lecturer and Head of Department for the Bachelor of Finance and Economics programme at Gedu College of Business Studies (GCBS), Royal University of Bhutan. She has 12 years of higher education teaching experience and two years of corporate experience.

She holds a joint Master’s degree in International Development Studies, completed through an Erasmus Mundus programme across universities in the Czech Republic, Italy and France, a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from Samtse College of Education, and a Bachelor of Commerce from GCBS. Before joining the college in 2014, she was a Banking Officer at the Bank of Bhutan Ltd, handling day-to-day branch operations and financial administration.

In her current role she manages departmental operations, coordinates modules including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Corporate Governance and Research Methods, and supervises final-year student research. Her institutional research focuses on pedagogical practices and faculty mentorship, supported by Annual University Research Grants, and she has secured two Erasmus+ mobility grants in collaboration with Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Finland. Her teaching aims to foster critical thinking and to help students apply academic concepts to real-world contexts.
