The workshop basically helped the participants understand knowledge about sexual behaviors, skills, attitudes, and values that empower individuals to realize their health, well-being, and dignity, develop respectful social and sexual relationships and consider how sexual behaviors and choices affect our own well-being and that of others.
The participants were also made to understand broad topics like relationships, values, rights, culture & sexuality, understanding gender, violence and staying safe, skills for health & well-being, and sexuality & sexual behavior.
“CSE is a sex education subject to equip students with the knowledge, attitude, and skills to make appropriate choices in their lives,” said the resource person, Prof. Ugyen Tshomo, Paro College of Education, and the Project Manager. No matter what it’s called, participants generally agreed that a comprehensive sexuality education workshop helped them to understand, demand, and protect their sexuality rights.
“Sexuality education has to be extended to college as part of the noncredited curricula so that children are fully equipped as they become adults,” said Professor Antony Alphonse Ligori. “CSE can be implemented as an informal program-based activity in the college, particularly for newcomers, and may be clubbed together with a human value workshop” he added.
