Gedu College of Business Studies, located in Gedu, Chukha is the only premier college under the Royal University of Bhutan offering full time contemporary business and management education in the country.
The establishment of the college was first conceived by His Majesty the Fourth King and the Royal Government. In the 85th session of the National Assembly, the Parliament resolved to establish a business college at Gedu in the campus developed by the Tala Hydroelectric Project Authority (THPA) – a joint project between the Government of India and the Royal Government of Bhutan.
With the intention of establishing a full fledged business college at Gedu, the Royal University of Bhutan shifted the faculty of Commerce and students from Sherubtse College to the newly established college.
The first Director General, Mr. Lhato Jamba was appointed by the Royal Government as the Project Director to lay the foundation and supervise the modifications of the existing infrastructure into an educational institution. Subsequently he took over as the first director of the college.
Currently, Dr. Sonam Choiden is the President who manages the overall development of the college. The college has 72 faculty and 75 administrative staff with 1603 students for the academic session 2017-2018.
